North County Times Charities Fund

About the McCormick Foundation

The McCormick Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening our free, democratic society by investing in our children, communities and country. It was established as a charitable trust in 1955, upon the death of Col. Robert R. McCormick, the longtime editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune, who believed that philanthropy and service to others strengthens the civic health of our communities. The Foundation is one of the nation's largest charities, with more than $1 billion in assets.

Today, the McCormick Foundation continues McCormick's legacy by teaming up with media outlets, such as the North County Times, and sports teams to help solve community challenges and improve the quality of life.

North County Times works in partnership with the McCormick Foundation to raise and distribute funds throughout the North San Diego County and Southwest Riverside County through the North County Times Charities Fund. To encourage donations from the public and strengthen the impact of giving, the Foundation matches all funds raised at 50 cents on the dollar. Also, the Foundation and North County Times absorb all campaign administrative costs, ensuring 100 percent of every dollar donated, plus matching funds, go to programs that support people in need.

The IRS has recognized the McCormick Foundation as a 501(c)3 organization, registration #36-3689171. Your gift is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. An acknowledgment will be sent for your files. The North County Times and the McCormick Foundation respect your right to privacy and do not trade or sell donor names.
