Newpaper with a heart
In addition to the North County Times Charities Fund, the North County Times supports a number of charitable initiatives in the communities it serves:
NORTH COUNTY HONOR CAMPAIGN
Thanks to $1 million in matching funds from the Howard Charitable Foundation, the North County Honor Campaign has raised more than $1.7 million for children of local Marines, sailors and other military personnel killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Each child receives $15,000 in investment funds, which are intended for their education. The Honor Campaign will exist as long as U.S. military personnel are overseas. To date, 100 children have received North County Honor Campaign scholarships.
NEWSPAPERS IN EDUCATION
Thousands of schoolchildren use the North County Times as "Living Textbooks" in their classrooms. Lesson plans are provided to teachers.
COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIPS
The North County Times sponsors numerous community and charitable events annually by providing complimentary advertising space to local charitable nonprofit groups.
