Alert: Parts of Escondido being evacuated

Parts of the city of Escondido are being evacuated because the Paradise Fire that started in Valley Center is spreading west, a city spokesperson said.

Hidden Trails Road, east of Valley Parkway to Ridgecrest Circle, has been evacuated, as well as all of Rancho San Pasqual and Cloverdale.

Officials have stressed throughout the day that if you feel your home is in danger, you should evacuate immediately.

Emergency officials announced that the following emergency shelters are open:

  • Emmanuel Faith Community Church, 639 East Felicita Avenue, Escondido

  • Escondido High School, 1531 North Broadway, Escondido

  • Poway Community Center, 13094 Bowron Road, Poway

  • St. Peter's Catholic Church, 450 S. Stage Coach Lane, Fallbrook

  • Olive Peirce Middle School, 1541 Hanson Lane, Ramona

  • Ramona High School, 1401 Hanson Lane, Ramona

  • Santana High School, 9915 Magnolia Avenue, Santee

  • Mira Mesa High School, 10510 Reagan Road, San Diego

  • Qualcomom Stadium on Friar's Road in Mission Valley

    help wrote on Oct 22, 2007 1:34 PM:i have an uncle that lives in escondido on palomar terrace. i think it is in central escondido, does anyone from there know if that area has been evacuated? we can't get ahold of him, please help.
