Lake Elsinore has classes in tennis LAKE ELSINORE - The city offers tennis classes at its new courts at Creekside Park, 3200 Lost Road. Junior beginning tennis will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Mondays, while junior intermediate tennis is from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursdays. Junior tennis classes are for children in sixth through eighth grades. Braille Institute van in Temecula TEMECULA - The Braille Institute will send its specialized van to Temecula on Wednesday for people who cannot travel to the center's Rancho Mirage location. The Mobile Solutions van has high-powered magnifiers, closed-circuit televisions and other equipment to maximize remaining vision. People can also buy items such as adaptive kitchen utensils and talking watches. Officials will offer free low-vision consultations and information on the institute's library service. Art classes to begin in Temecula TEMECULA - Artist Gabriele Baber will teach art classes through the Temecula Community Services Department: Meeting to focus on meditation WILDOMAR - The Cafh Foundation, which seeks to integrate spirituality into everyday life, will hold an introductory meditation and meeting on "How Is Meditation Different From Reflection and Prayer?" Church to hold calendar party TEMECULA - Rancho Community Church will host a calendar party at 7 p.m. next Friday. Monday blood drive planned at lodge WILDOMAR - Lake Elsinore Elks Lodge 2591 will host a blood drive from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday at 33700 Mission Trail. Lewis and Clark musical journey set TEMECULA - Daniel Slosberg will impersonate Pierre Cruzatte, a fiddle player on the Lewis and Clark expedition, at the Temecula Library on Jan. 20. Slosberg will play fiddle, jaw harp, bones, spoons and other instruments of the expedition at the family program, titled "Pierre Cruzatte: A Musical Journey Along the Lewis & Clark Trail." Golf tournament benefits Red Cross RANCHO MIRAGE - Proceeds from an upcoming golf tournament at Mission Hills Country Club will benefit the disaster relief fund of the American Red Cross, Riverside County chapter. The shotgun start for the March 1 tournament is 12:30 p.m. Following the tournament, there will be an awards dinner with entertainment, raffles, and silent and live auctions. Poster entries being accepted TEMECULA - The deadline to enter the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival poster contest is next Friday. The winning entry for the contest will be featured on this year's souvenir poster and program. The artwork must be on 18-by-24-inch paper and have the words "21st Annual Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival." Exhibitors to put talent on display INDIO - Show off a talent for a chance at prize money totaling $30,000 at the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival. The fair is scheduled for Feb. 13 to 22 in Indio, and more than 7,000 county residents are expected to take part in the Competitive Exhibit Program. Opportunities range from the performing and visual arts to agriculture and horticulture. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Thursday. Download an entry form at www.date-fest.org. Teens to learn how to manage anger TEMECULA - Safe Alternatives For Everyone offers an anger management course for teens. The 12-week-long program is designed to teach teenagers the coping skills they need to refrain from acting out in violence. It is held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the S.A.F.E. office in the Temecula Community Center. Although the program began this week, teens can sign up over the next couple of weeks. 'Souped-up' party set in Idyllwild IDYLLWILD - The Idyllwild Chamber of Commerce will host the inaugural WinterFest Celebration on Jan. 17 and 18. The celebration will feature a Soup Walk on Jan. 17 and an After Christmas Craft Fair on Jan. 18. The Soup Walk will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with local businesses serving up the homemade soups. Event-goers will serve as the judges. Tickets to the walk are actually limited-edition soup mugs painted by artist Eileen Roberts and cost $10. Reserve a ticket to the soup walk by calling 659-3259.
