ESCONDIDO ---- Anticipating a glut of bunnies taken to the shelter after Easter, the Escondido Humane Society has announced it is offering rabbits for adoption at half price until March 31.
By finding homes for all 11 rabbits now at the humane society, officials said they hope to be in a better position to handle the animals that typically are brought in after the holiday.
Normally, the adoption fee for rabbits is $50 and includes altering, veterinary exams and microchip identification. The fee has been reduced to $25, with an additional charge for the microchip, until the end of the month, said Phil Morgan, the humane society's president and chief executive officer.
The Escondido Humane Society is located at 3450 E. Valley Parkway. Adoption hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information, call (760) 888-BARK.
