Judge Frederic Link has sentenced Richard Tuite to 13 years in state prison for the killing of 12-year-old Escondido resident Stephanie Crowe.
The sentence is the maximum Tuite faced for voluntary manslaughter and related charges.
Link said he took into account several prior convictions of Tuite's when sentencing the mentally-ill transient.
Tuite has served 960 days of that sentence.
Link also ordered Tuite to pay restitution to the victim's family and a fine of at least $10,000.
Earlier this morning denied motions for a new trial for Tuite.
