Poway High tight end Jon Gissinger has verbally committed to play football at the University of Missouri. The son of former Charger Drew Gissinger made his decision after a trip to Columbia, Mo., over the weekend.

Gissinger, an All-Palomar League selection, was recruited for his size (6-foot-3, 230 pounds), good hands and long-snapping ability. He was also offered a full football scholarship to Kent State and was recruited heavily by Syracuse to play lacrosse.

Titans coach Damien Gonzalez said Gissinger chose the Tigers because he liked the coaching staff and college-town atmosphere of Columbia.
