LA JOLLA ---- The cheer reverberated from the North Course's 18th hole, a sound associated with someone sinking a long, clutch birdie putt in the Buick Invitational. As cool as it gets

Our View: The pioneers found rain, rivers, erosion. No, explorers didn't wander into North County this winter, they landed a probe on Titan, a moon of Saturn that features remarkably Earth-like weather and geology. Oh, there were some differences: temperatures of 275 degrees below zero, methane rain and rocks that appear to be super hard water ice. Post your Comments

SAN DIEGO ---- Recent downpours have pushed the additional cost of repairing closed, fire-and-rain damaged parks to $1.5 million, county officials said last week. County parks officials predicted in December that they would have to spend $1 million more than they expected to replace mudslide and erosion barriers that were overwhelmed by heavy October rains.
