The Mira Mesa High football team ended a five-game losing streak to Torrey Pines with a 27-20 victory over the Falcons on Friday night.

Trailing 20-0 at the half, second-ranked Torrey Pines (2-1) rallied but fell short. Senior running back Anthony Walker of third-ranked Mira Mesa (2-0-1) finished with 243 yards on 38 carries.

The Falcons' first score came with 5:02 remaining in the third quarter as Scooter Belasco scored on a 60-yard touchdown run.

In the fourth quarter, the Falcons would get as close as they would all night after back up quarterback Blake Vanderwiel hit Belasco in stride for a 92-yard touchdown pass that made it 20-13 after Bill Bennett converted the PAT.

The Marauders countered with a touchdown pass of their own to go back up by 14, and a 21-yard touchdown pass from Vanderwiel to Connor Bird finished the scoring.
