FALLBROOK ---- Brandon Gallery in Fallbrook is showing "Ghost Town or Bust," a display of artist books by guest Renee Richetts from Jan. 3 through 31.
Unlike traditional exhibitions, visitors will be encouraged to handle a number of the books. They also will be encouraged to compare Richettsí approach to traditional book structures with her exploration of more novel designs.

Church choirs to perform
FALLBROOK ---- The chancel choir, children's choir, bell choir, instrumentalists and soloists will perform a Christmas vespers concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 18 at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church.
Director William Hatcher will present the Christmas portion of Handel's "Messiah" and "The Many Moods of Christmas" by Shaw and Bennett.
The chancel bell choir will perform "Still, Still, Still" and "Ding Dong Merrily on High."
Featured soloists are Mary Jaeb, soprano; Pamela Frisbie, mezzo soprano; Justin Kalm, tenor; and Stephen Knoll-Gentry, baritone.
Admission is free, but a free-will offering will be taken.

Riverview church plans holiday services
BONSALL ---- Riverview Evangelical Free Church will celebrate the birth of Christ with services at 5 and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 24 and 9 to 10 a.m. Christmas day. Both Christmas Eve services will feature carols, special music and candlelight effects, Scripture reading and a Christmas message. Mormons plan Christmas concert
FALLBROOK ---- The 17th annual Multi-Ward Christmas concert will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 621 S. Stage Coach Lane.
The program will include narrated Christmas classics and Christmas carols being conducted by Anne Renshaw and Eric Peterson. There will be solos, group numbers, choir singing and instrumental solos.

Fundraising nonevent planned
FALLBROOK ---- Nearly 3,000 invitations have been sent out inviting donors not to attend a fundraising event.
"The Murder at 135 South Mission Road," an interactive murder mystery play, is being held as a pretend fundraiser by the Fallbrook Healthcare Foundation. The foundation offices are at 135 S. Mission Road.
"There is no need for the donors to rent a tuxedo, buy a gown, juggle their schedule or hassle with a babysitter," said foundation board President Bob Wright. "This fundraiser couldnít be easier or more fun. And the best part ---- you get to stay home. If you didnít get an invitation and want to make a donation, call the foundation at (760) 723-7713."
The invitation instructs people to select what they would like for their imaginary dinner, add up the cost of that dinner, write their check for that amount, and then put it into the pre-addressed, stamped envelope accompanying the invitation.
Executive Director Betsey Levering added, "The pretend fundraiser is intended to not only help raise funds for the foundation but to also expand membership, increase visibility within the community and to educate people about the services provided by the foundation."
Since 1979, the foundation has served the health care needs of Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow and De Luz communities. Today, the foundation funds and operates five programs that include:
-- The CARE Van: a shuttle service to take seniors and the disabled to medical appointments, pharmacies and the grocery store.
-- The Fallbrook Adult Day Care Center: a social and recreational program designed for the frail and elderly.
-- The Care Advocate: individual assistance and resources for people facing health and aging challenges alone.
-- Health Care Resources: a data base accessible in person, by phone or on the Internet about local, county and state health resources.
-- Project Care: a community volunteer effort to enable frail, elderly or disabled people living alone to be safe and self-sufficient in their homes.
The foundation also partners with 10 local, county or state organizations to provide heath care services and referrals. Services include funding Health Watch monitors, SeniorNet computer classes, and support groups for caregivers and family members with mentally ill relatives.

OCEANSIDE ---- The Oceanside Senior Center Happy Wanderers Travel Service is planning a "Circle of Life Tour" along the central coast of California for three days and two nights Jan. 31 through Feb. 2. Intermediate Computer Skills offered
VISTA ---- The Gloria McClellan Senior Center will hold a class, Intermediate Computer Skills, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 16, 18 and 20 at 1400 Vale Terrace Drive. The class will teach the different programs on PCs, how to use a Web browser and Web-based e-mail. Cost is $35. Call (760) 639-6160.
Good deed contest winner awarded
VISTA ---- Mark Elliott and Debra Asakura, doctors at Performance Chiropractic Center, recently awarded a new Internet-ready Dell laptop computer to Hayden Schlosser, the latest winner of the Do A Good Deed Contest. The contest encourages youth age 21 and younger to do a good deed in the community and then write an essay detailing what they did, what motivated them to do the deed and what they learned throughout the process.
Schlosser, a freshman at El Camino High School, took a mission trip with his church youth group to Mexico where they performed services for children who live in an orphanage.
