North County Business Briefs: Discovery Bancorp profits up

SAN MARCOS ---- Net profits for Discovery Bancorp were $330,044, or 18 cents per share, for the fourth quarter of 2005, a gain of 138 percent over earnings of $138,689, or 13 cents per share, for the same period in 2004.
Discovery Bancorp's earnings for 2005 totaled $552,681, or 42 cents per share, compared with $618,640, or 60 cents per share, for Discovery Bank and Discovery Bancorp combined in 2004.
U.S. Microbics' revenue increases
CARLSBAD ---- U.S. Microbics Inc. says that its audited results for the fiscal year 2005, ended Sept. 30, it had revenue of $1.199 million, compared with $419,318 during the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2004, an increase of 186 percent. The company incurred a net loss of $2.998 million in the fiscal year ended 2005, compared with a net loss of $4.041 million in the previous fiscal year.
Community Bancorp declares dividend
ESCONDIDO ---- The board of directors of Community Bancorp Inc., parent company of Community National Bank, declared a quarterly cash dividend of 12.5 cents per share. This represents a 25 percent increase over the 10 cents paid in each of the quarters during the year ended Dec. 31. The first quarter dividend is payable on March 31 to stockholders of record at the close of business on March 15.
Realty Income announces dividend
ESCONDIDO ---- Realty Income Corp. says that its board of directors declared a dividend on the company's Class D preferred stock that is payable on March 15 to shareholders of record as of last Wednesday. The monthly dividend amount on the Class D preferred stock is 15.36459 cents per share, for an annualized rate of $1.84375 per share.
Verus to donate Twinject devices
CARMEL VALLEY ---- Verus Pharmaceuticals Inc., a pediatric-oriented company, says it will donate 5,000 Twinject demonstrator devices for Anaphylaxis Day activities today during the 2006 American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology's annual meeting. Anaphylaxis Day aims to educate physicians, health care professionals and the public about anaphylaxis, a life-threatening systemic allergic reaction.
Twinject is an epinephrine auto-injector for the emergency treatment of severe allergic reactions.
IAAP to meet in San Marcos
SAN MARCOS ---- The Palomar chapter of IAAP, a professional association, will have a meeting featuring the topic "The Tools You Need Now, the Technology You Will Need Tomorrow!" at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bakers Square Restaurant, 1650 Descanso Ave. Cost is $23; for reservations, e-mail bussey@rsf-fire.org.
