    Military Briefs: CNO commemorates Battle of Midway today aboard USS Midway

    SAN DIEGO -- Admiral Michael G. Mullen, chief of naval operations, will be the keynote speaker at 6:55 p.m. tonight at a ceremony honoring 15 surviving veterans of the June 1942 Battle of Midway, one of the most amazing sea victories in U.S. Naval history. A reception begins at 6 p.m. Each year the Navy pays tribute to this heroic turning point in the war in the Pacific Theatre of WW II. This is the third consecutive year the event will be held aboard the USS Midway Museum, 910 N. Harbor Drive in San Diego. Weather permitting, there will be two flyovers.
