SAN MARCOS ---- Vista volunteers will participate in a mock disaster drill Saturday to test their skills in responding to an emergency.
Vista's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a volunteer group that would assist emergency workers responding to their own neighborhoods in a disaster, will hold the simulation Saturday morning at the San Marcos Regional Training Facility, Vista fire Capt. Ned Vanderpol said.
The volunteers will practice search and rescue, triage of injured patients, firefighting, and lifting and removing heavy objects.
The drill is the final step in the eight-week training program for 30 volunteers, Vanderpol said. When the volunteers complete the disaster simulation, they will become members of Vista CERT, he said.
