James Lissey

July 6, 1910 - June 28, 2001

Born in Irwin, Pennsylvania, James Lissey worked as a machinist in Detroit, Michigan, before bringing his family to the Escondido area in 1947. His brother, Frank, still lives in Pennsylvania. James worked at Boyle & Son Trucking, Valley Lumber and Engel Air Craft in Escondido before going to work at Consolidated, Ryan and Convair in San Diego as a machinist until retirement. He also worked at Kerfott in San Marcos. He moved to San Marcos in 1958, living there until 1972. Then, he moved with his wife, Barbara, to Weaverville in Northern California. He loved the trees, rivers and mountains and had his own forest on Dog Creek near Shasta Lake. He loved traveling to see his family in Alaska, and back to Escondido for visits. Reading and books were a great enjoyment to him, compiling a library of more than 4,000 books over his lifetime. We had so many special times going through the thrift stores looking for a new book. He kept exceptional records. Bohemian and German polka music was

also a favorite of his. He and Barbara returned to Escondido in 1998 to fight a battle against cancer. He lost that battle June 28, 2001, just a few days before his 91st birthday. He touched the hearts of all those who helped him during that time. He was living with daughter, Sheila, who treasures every day he was with her family. He and Barbara were married over 60 years. She still misses you everyday. Together you built a family based on love and faithfulness. Together you taught us what family love is. You put us first always.

We are so blessed to have had you on this earth for 90 years. We miss you. Not a day goes by without a remembrance of you. We look around and see you in all the things you did to help us. We see the trees you planted and loved.

Daddy, we love you and miss you so very much. We pray you are in God's wonderful forests caring for His trees.

Your loving family,

Barbara, Frank, Rod & Caroline, Sheila & Wayne, Randy, Sharon & Paul; grandchildren Polly, James, Mark, Barbara, Debra & Mark; great-grandchildren Nicole, Andrea, Allison, Arden, Annika, Andrew, Lauren, Matt, Kevin and Kayla. You made a lasting difference in all our lives.

You are forever in our hearts.
