CARLSBAD ---- A man suspected of robbing an auto store was arrested after authorities found him hiding in the store's attic early Monday morning, Carlsbad police said.
An employee opening Firestone Tire on the 2500 block of El Camino Real called police at 6:39 a.m. to report that the store appeared to have been burglarized and the suspect may still be inside, Lt. Jay Eppel said.
Responding officers secured the business and K9 police found Michael McGuire, 34, hiding in the store's second-story attic, Eppel said.
The dog was deployed and McGuire was taken into custody after being treated at Tri-City Medical Center for minor injuries from a dog bite.
A vehicle associated with McGuire was located near the scene and contained possible stolen property, including baseball cards and a comic book collection, police said.
McGuire was booked into Vista jail on two counts of second degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. Bail is set at $50,500 and arraignment is scheduled Wednesday.
