Escondido High School teacher Dave Blanscet's chemistry class is now down to 28 students, and is one of his smallest classes, after starting the year with 37 students. District officials created new class schedules and added dozens of new classes almost three weeks after starting the 2006-07 academic year.

ESCONDIDO -- Police are investigating the disappearance of a 26-year-old Escondido man not seen since Saturday evening, police Lt. David Mankin said.
Daniel William Parsons left the home of a friend in Escondido on Saturday night, Mankin said. On Wednesday morning, sheriff's deputies located a stripped car abandoned in a remote area of San Pasqual, said sheriff's homicide Sgt. Chris Wynn.
Wynn said Parsons' family have told police that it is very unusual for him not to be in contact with his family.
"He checks in very frequently with his family," Wynn said. "He spends most of the day with his mom who is convalescing." He said police were investigating it as a missing persons case only.
Parsons drove a white 1992 Toyota Celica with 17-inch TSW wheels, Mankin said. The vehicle was found on blocks at Old San Pasqual Road and San Pasqual Road missing the wheels and other miscellaneous property, Mankin said.
Wednesday evening, detectives were gathering information on Parsons and trying to check in with his friends to see if they had heard from him or knew anything about his disappearance.
He is described as a white man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes and contact lenses. He was last seen wearing a tan shirt, gray pants, and gray shoes.
Anyone with information should call Escondido police at (760) 839-4722.

Su wrote on Sep 13, 2006 11:02 AM:It seems there isnt much coverage on this Missing Person case. I agree with Laurie that a picture should be published and an updated article on this missing man. Surely there is someone out there that has some sort of information. With some more publicity they just may come forth.

Kim wrote on Sep 16, 2006 2:46 PM:It is so important to have media coverage when a person comes up missing under suspicious circumstances. Since this young man's mother is convalescing, it breaks my heart for her that she can't be there to look for her son. Would you please run another article about this young man with his picture?
Laurie wrote on Sep 17, 2006 12:26 PM:What is happening to our local law inforcment and the North County Times ? Several comments have been posted requesting a follow-up story on the disappearance of Danny Parsons yet nothing has been done about it . Channel 10 News aired the story many times knowing how vital it is to get Danny's picture out to the public . Where is your care ? Where is your concern ? Where is your compassion ?
Su wrote on Sep 18, 2006 7:35 PM:I also have wondered where the updates have been on this Missing Person. The more media coverage the more chance that "somebody" might come forth with some leads. Isnt the North County Times a "community" newspaper? It has been over 2 weeks now. Most all the people I have talked with regarding this mans disappearance had no clue what I was even talking about. PLEASE do this man and his family a favor and do your jobs! ( like we care about the students who were suspended for wearing speedos at SPHS)
