Margretta Stancik, 72
RANCHO BERNARDO - Margretta "Greta" Lynn Stancik, 72, died of a heart attack Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at her home.
Born Sept. 13, 1934, in Omaha, Neb., she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 30 years. She was a schoolteacher in Loveland, Neb. She was active in the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church, where she cooked meals for ill members. She received a bachelor's degree at Baylor.
Mrs. Stancik was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stancik, in January 2006; and brother Jerry Cozette.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Adrienne Cozette of Naples, Fla.; stepdaughter Bonita Foss of Chicago; and stepson Dennis Stancik of San Clemente.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. today, Oct. 26, at the Crosby Funeral Home in Omaha, Neb. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.

Aunita Adsit, 86
VALLEY CENTER - Aunita Hazel Adsit, 86, died of cancer Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, in Winchester.
Born Feb. 20, 1920, in Santa Monica, she lived in Valley Center for 37 years. She worked at the Escondido Elementary School District. She was a volunteer at Palomar Medical Center, the Lawrence Welk Theater and at the Animal Rescue.
She was a member of the Grandview Church in Valley Center, where she was active in the children's ministry. She received a teacher's certificate in early childhood education from UC Berkeley. She was an avid gardener.
Mrs. Adsit was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore B. Adsit, in 1971.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Tedra and Jessie Reyes of Winchester, Sigrid and Rellie Lawyer of Casa Grande, Ariz., Lauriel Adsit and Robert Morris of San Diego, and Robin Adsit and Rod Metts of Clairemont; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for noon and interment at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar.

Robert Riggs, 80
ESCONDIDO - Robert Irwin Riggs, 80, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006.
Born June 27, 1926, in Cloverdale, Iowa, he lived in Escondido for 46 years. He retired in 1990 after 35 years as a commercial and residential carpenter in the Carpenters Union Local 547.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Hidden Valley Four Wheelers and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed camping, hunting, riding motorcycles, reading and flying his own private plane.
Mr. Riggs is survived by his wife of 60 years, Annie Riggs of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Henry Wybenga of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Roger and Nancy Riggs of Caldwell, Idaho; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Private family services are planned.

Jeanne Craik, 73
VISTA - Jeanne Kathleen Craik, 73, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at her home.
Born April 15, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio, she lived in Vista for 24 years.
She was a civil service secretary for more than 20 years, retiring as executive secretary to the commander of the Army Aviation Test Facility at Edwards Air Force Base.
She served as a WAF during the Korean War.
She was a court reporter and a fifth-grade teacher. She was a founder of the Antelope Valley chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Mrs. Craik is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert B. Craik of Vista; sons and daughters-in-law Robert B. III and Rose Craik of La Quinta, Roy K. Craik of Seattle, and Paul A. and Amelia Craik of Carson City, Nev.; daughter and son-in-law Tracey and Mike McBride of Long Beach; sister Juanita McPeek of Orlando, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Allen Bros. Mortuary, Vista Chapel.
Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside.

Jeannette McDaniel, 83
OCEANSIDE - Jeanette McDaniel, 83, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Dec. 16, 1922, in Fairmont, Minn., she lived in Oceanside for 22 years. She taught kindergarten for the San Bernardino School District for 20 years and retired in 1983. She was an artist.
Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her husband of 23 years, Lloyd McDaniel of Oceanside; son David Skemars of Orem, Utah; stepson Steve Linn of Rush City, Minn.; daughter and son-in-law Noel and Vincent Harden of Ashville, N.C.; stepdaughter Vicki Tompkins of Indian Trail, N.C.; and brother Edward C. Milbrandt of Seal Beach.
Private inurnment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego is handling arrangements.

Richard McDonald, 85
SAN DIEGO - Richard F. McDonald, 85, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006.
Born June 28, 1921, in Shreveport, La., he lived in San Diego for eight years. He was an aeronautical engineer for Lockheed for 35 years.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the North County Daylight Masonic Lodge in Escondido and the Arlington, Texas Masonic Lodge.
Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia McDonald, in 2001.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Mark of Colorado, and Mary Love Rueda of Ramona; and four grandchildren.
Private services with interment at Riverside National Cemetery are planned.

E. James Lee, 85
GILBERT, Ariz. - E. James Lee, 85, died of heart failure Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006.
Born Feb. 8, 1921, in Eden, Ariz., he lived in Gilbert for 20 years. He was a six-year summer resident of Vista. He retired in 1978 from Prudential Life Insurance.
He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 pilot and flight instructor during World War II. He was a sculptor and poet. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a fourth-generation decendant of Morman pioneers.
Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his son, Danny Lee, in 1971; mother Nira Elizabeth Palmer; and father Claude Melnot Lee.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jacqueline Lee of Gilbert; daughters Janice Reeb and Tami Roeder; stepsons Kevin and Mike McFadden; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Gilbert.
Norm Chaffee, 65
OCEANSIDE - Norm Chaffee, 65, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006.
He was born May 19, 1941, in Glendale. He retired as a computer program and design engineer. He was a member of a 12-step program for 33 years. He loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and sailing.
He was a very kind and loving friend.
Mr. Chaffee is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lupe Chaffee of Oceanside.
A service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at New Vista Community Church, 165 Eucalyptus Ave. in Vista with Richard Walters officiating. The family suggests riding your motorcycles.

Mike Perez Jr., 75
ESCONDIDO - Mike Perez Jr., 75, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at his home.
Born July 17, 1931, in Escondido, he lived there all his life. He was a mason. He was a volunteer at the Joslyn Center. He loved his bird, Little Lucy, and casinos.
Mr. Perez was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Miguel Perez.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruby Perez of Escondido; sons and daughters-in-law Mike III and Janice Perez of Bixby, Okla., and Jody John and Kathy Perez of La Quinta; daughters and son-in-law Deborah and James Odle of Valley Center and Alisha Perez of San Diego; brothers and sisters-in-law Gilbert Perez of Escondido, Eddie and Bea Perez of Rancho Cucamonga, George and Beverly Perez of Pala, and Dick Perez of Escondido; sisters and brothers-in-law Esther and Al Arrendo of Vista, Gloria and Robert Dash of Alaska, and Rita Carter of Mississippi; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at McLeod Mortuary, 1919 E. Valley Parkway in Escondido.

Daniel Conway Jr., 75
SOLANA BEACH - Daniel Pierre Conway Jr., 75, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006.
He was born May 22, 1931, in Florida. He was a yacht dealer. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Conway is survived by his companion, Judy Dufour of Solana Beach; daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Eric Pollard of San Diego; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Teddy Conway of Santa Monica; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for noon Saturday, Oct. 28, at El Camino Memorial, Encinitas Chapel, 340 Melrose Ave. in Encinitas.

SAN MARCOS - Harry E. Childers, 89, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Silvergate.
Born May 22, 1917, in Toledo, Ohio, he lived in San Diego County for 10 years. He was an executive manager for Clorox Corp. for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Childers is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Childers of San Marcos; son Michael Henry Childers of Kirkland, Wash.; and daughter Teri Lynn Childers of San Diego.
Private cremation and interment are planned.

Robert Jones Jr., 58
ESCONDIDO - Robert Edwards Jones Jr., 58, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006.
Born Aug. 26, 1948, in Los Angeles, he lived in Escondido for 26 years. He was a biology and physical education teacher. He enjoyed working with children and sports.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Jones Sr., in 1994.
He is survived by his mother, Violet Jones of Santa Rosa; brothers Keith Jones of Desert Hot Springs, Kevin Jones of Escondido and Bruce Jones of Oceanside; and sisters Linda Jones of Santa Rosa and Joy McIntire of Fredricksburg, Va.
A graveside service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., staging area 3, in Riverside.

OCEANSIDE - Romulo S. Florentino, 61, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006.
Born Feb. 3, 1945, in Mexico, he lived in Oceanside for 30 years. He was a warehouse worker for Orval Kent.
Mr. Florentino is survived by his wife of 35 years, Paulina Florentino of Oceanside; sons and daughters-in-law Jose and Alma Florentino and Jose Antonio Garcia, all of Oceanside; daughters and sons-in-law Carmelita Florentino and Rene Rodriguez of San Bernardino, Maria Florentino and Monti Maina and Lupita Florentino, all of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Vicente and Celerina Florentino of Fresno; sister Josefina Florentino of Mexico; and one grandchild.
Viewing is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 26, at Oceanside Mortuary, 602 S. Coast Highway in Oceanside.
A Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Mission San Luis Rey Parish Chapel in Oceanside.

MURRIETA ---- Mao Cha, 50, died of colon cancer Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Kaiser Hospital in Riverside.
Born March 16, 1956, in Laos, she lived in Murrieta for one year. She was a homemaker for 30 years.
Mrs. Cha is survived by her husband, Chiengneng Cha; sons Kennedy Cha, Webster Cha, Washington Cha, Aaron Cha and Adam Cha; daughters Blee Bianca Cha, Christine Cha, Linda Cha and Serena Cha.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, to noon Monday, Oct. 30, at Options Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will take place at noon, Monday, Oct. 30, at Elsinore Valley Cemetery District.

Earl Miller, 83
CANYON LAKE ---- Earl Hibbert Miller, 83, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at Life Care Center of Corona.
Born July 13, 1923, in East St. Louis, Ill., he lived in Canyon Lake for 21 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant. He was a member of Canyon Lake Community Church. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lorette Miller. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beryl Miller of Canyon Lake; daughters Linda Card and Pam Hastings, both of Canyon Lake; brothers Tom Miller of Bodfish and Claude Miller of Murrieta; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Canyon Lake Community Church in Canyon Lake with the Rev. Pete Van Dyke officiating. Private interment at Riverside National Cemetery is planned.

Michael Tierney
Michael J. Tierney, 68, of Las Vegas, passed away unexpectedly at home September 5, 2006. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on February 4, 1938. He grew up in Rosemead, California, and was a graduate of Rosemead High School and Tampa University. Michael served in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier Hornet from 1957-1960. Michael also served in the U.S. Army from 1964 until being medically retired due to combat injuries in 1972. He served two combat tours in the Republic of Vietnam as an infantry officer with the 1st Infantry Division. He was awarded a Bronze Star with "V" device for valor and a Purple Heart for wounds received in direct combat with the enemy.
Michael was a 30-year resident of the Las Vegas area. He worked in the gaming business as a dealer, bartended at local taverns and worked as an enforcement officer for the Las Vegas Taxi Cab Authority.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer McClish and granddaughter Kathryn McClish of Toledo, Ohio; sisters Carolyn Mettler (John) and Maryanne Tierney of Vista, California, along with nieces and many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Maryanne Tierney; and brother John Patrick.
Mike was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. A private memorial service was held by his immediate family in Vista, California.
