Paul Burch, 91

SUN CITY ---- Paul Edward Burch, 91, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at his home.

Born Jan. 31, 1916, in Indianapolis, he lived in Sun City for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He played a hole-in-one.

Mr. Burch is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maxine Burch of Sun City; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Linda Burch of west Los Angeles; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Private inurnment at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside is planned.

Margarito Vidal, 26

TEMECULA ---- Margarito Garcia Vidal, 26, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta.

He was born June 10, 1980, in Mexico. He was a horse groomer at a horse ranch in Temecula for four years.

Mr. Vidal is survived by his fiancee, Page Gastelum; sister and brother-in-law, Delfina and Doroteo Garcia; aunts Marina Vidal, Paula Vidal, Petra Vidal and Lola Vidal; and uncles Martin Garcia and Herasto Garcia.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. and funeral service at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at Murrieta Valley Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Temecula Public Cemetery.

Billy Nelson, 81

OCEANSIDE - Billy K. Nelson, 81, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at his home.

Born July 28, 1925, he lived in Oceanside for 40 years. He was a master gunnery sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired after serving 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

He was employed by the Carlsbad School District and retired after 10 years, also serving as president of the School Workers Union. He was a Cub Scout leader, Boy Scout troop leader and was one of the first male Girl Scout troop leaders in Southern California.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Eve of Oceanside; daughters Billie Kae Hulbert of Johnstown, N.Y., Pat Franko of Spencerport, N.Y., Keely Nelson of San Diego and Robin Shannon of Temecula; son Mark Nelson of Temecula; sister Avanell Rainbolt of Texas; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services have been held.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego with full military honors.

William Boster, 81

OCEANSIDE - William "Bill" Crawford Boster, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at home.

Born Aug. 8, 1925, in Whittier, he lived in Oceanside for 81 years. He served in the U.S. Army's 1st Cavalry Band during World War II.

He worked at SDG&E for 19 years as a meter reader. He retired in 1975.

He was a member of North Coast United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working with wood, creating bird houses and doing yard work.

Mr. Boster was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia E. Boster, in 2006.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Rose Mae; and sister Marilyn J. Boster.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 9, at Eternal Hills Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a charity of choice.

Pieter Cosaert, 79

VISTA - Pieter Albert Cosaert, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at his home.

Born Feb. 5, 1927, in Semarang, Java, he lived in Vista. He was a singer, guitarist, dancer and bandleader.

Mr. Cosaert was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie; and granddaughter Amber.

He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Holmgren of St. George, Utah; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Brandie Cosaert of Vista; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services were held.

Jose Trujillo, 47

FALLBROOK -- Jose "Art" Arturo Trujillo, 47, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007.

Born Jan. 24, 1960, in Fallbrook, he lived in Escondido for 47 years. He was a quality control supervisor for a golf company for seven years. He enjoyed golfing, football and all sports. He was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Vista.

Mr. Trujillo is survived by his companion of two years, Leticia Galdinez of Escondido; daughter Rebecca Trujillo of Escondido; father Salvador Trujillo of San Marcos; sister Irma Trujillo of Vista; brothers and sisters-in-law Francisco and Michelle Trujillo of Lancaster and Sergio and Angelina Trujillo of Escondido.

Services have been held.

Teresa Wagner, 48

ESCONDIDO - Teresa Sue Wagner, 48, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007.

Born Oct. 17, 1958, in Santa Ana, she lived in Escondido for 11 years.

She was a sales clerk in the bakery department at Von's grocery on Felicita and Centre City Parkway in Escondido.

Mrs. Wagner was preceded in death by her mother, Beverleigh Tatum, in 1995.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Wagner, of Washington; daughter Jennifer Wagner of Escondido; sons Robert Hershman of Temecula and Jacob Wagner of Escondido; father Robert Tatum of San Jose; and sisters and brother-in-law Leslee Denardo of Danville and Robin and Bob Hungate of Encinitas.

A memorial service was held. Private cremation is planned.

Kathleen Lienhard-Whiting, 74

RENO, Nev. -- Kathleen C. Lienhard-Whiting died at home.

Born Aug. 20, 1932, in Encinitas, she lived in Reno. Mrs. Lienhard-Whiting was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon.

She is survived by her daughter, April Killian; son Gordon Whiting; brothers Owen and Gordon Lienhard; sister Gloria Scheffler; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

Peggy Ferrell, 70

OCEANSIDE -- Peggy Lyn Ferrell, 70, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007.

Born Dec. 7, 1936, in Salt Lake City, she lived in Oceanside for 16 years. She was in real estate sales.

She was a member of the Torrey Pines Women's Golf Club and the Coronado Ladies Golf Club. She was a volunteer for the pro golf tournaments at Torrey Pines and La Costa.

Mrs. Ferrell is survived by her husband of 53 years, Howard D. Ferrell of Oceanside; daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Neil Ellison of Sparks, Nev.; sons and daughter-in-law Bruce Ferrell of Helendale and Dan and Jacki Ferrell of St. George, Utah; sister and brother-in-law Diane and Ed Dufour of Escondido; and two grandchildren.

Private family burial services at Eternal Hills Memorial Park are planned.

Don De La Rossa, 84

LAKE SAN MARCOS - Don Richard De La Rossa, 84, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at a local board and care home.

Born July 7, 1922, in Indianapolis, he lived in Lake San Marcos for 21 years. He was a design engineer for Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Corp. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he flew P-51 Mustangs, P-47 Thunderbolts and the P-38 Lightning.

He served in the Reserves for 10 years, retiring as a captain. He retired in 1978 as president of Ford's Kharmann Ghia office in Italy. He was called out of retirement by Lee Iococca to be chief designer until 1987. He then opened the Chrysler Pacifica Design Center in San Marcos.

Mr. De La Rossa is survived by his wife of three years, Patricia A. "Patty King" De La Rossa of Lake San Marcos; sons and daughters-in-law Scott Richard De La Rossa and Jennifer Scott of San Diego, and Don Richard "Rick" and Kerry De La Rossa of Centennial, Colo.; daughters and son-in-law Elizabeth "Liz" De La Rossa of Elk Rapids, Mich., and Kimberly "Kim" and David Masse of Lexington, Ky.; stepchildren and their spouses Denise and Mark Michelbrink of Avilla, Ind., Paul and Vickie King of Rising Star, Texas, Robert "Bob" and Justine King of Wichita, Kan., Kellee Overholser of LaGrange, Ind., and Kristina Hughes of Leesburg, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Private cremation and interment will take place.

Pablo Sisneros, 79

BERNALILLO, N.M. -- Pablo "Paul" R. Sisneros, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007.

He was a lifelong resident of Bernalillo. He served in the U.S. Navy and Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4243 in Bernalillo.

Mr. Sisneros was preceded in death by his parents, Doroteo and Priscillana Sisneros; wife of 25 years Rita F. Sisneros; brothers Dennis O. Sisneros, Raymond E. Sisneros; and sister Lydia Sisneros.

He is survived by his stepchildren, Jorge Ted and Toni Montoya, Theresa and Vivian Valdez, Geraldine Montoya, Tim and Henrietta Montoya, Randy Montoya and James Montoya; brother and sister-in-law Eliseo and Brigida Sisneros of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters Maria Oralia Sisneros of Oceanside, Ernestine Kidd of Pitman, N.J., and Ida Sisneros and Fernando Acuna of Oceanside; and numerous step-grandchildren.

Services have been held. Burial with military honors by the New Mexico Honor Guard will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Joseph Graffia, 93

OCEANSIDE -- Joseph Samuel Graffia, 93, died of natural causes Monday, Jan. 8, 2007.

Born Dec. 16, 1913, in Los Angeles, he lived in Oceanside for 20 years.

He retired in 1978 as the owner of Sparkle Plenty Building Maintenance for 25 years, where some of his clients in Palm Springs were Lucille Ball, Red Skelton, Liberace and Frank Sinatra.

He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mr. Graffia is survived by his wife of 34 years, Margie L. Brown of Rancho Bernardo; daughters and sons-in-law Marijo and Timothy Lueanc of La Mesa, Antonia Graffia of Oceanside, Lillia Graffia of Kona, Hawaii, Dorathea and Kevin Smith of San Diego, Lucina and Timothy Mork of San Marcos and Melanie and Jerry Lahr of San Diego; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial talk will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1930 Avenida Del Oro in Oceanside, with Rick Muncie officiating.

Janice Szabo, 61

CARLSBAD - Janice Lynn Szabo, 61, died of Fronto-temporal dementia Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Life Care Center of Vista.

Born Oct. 14, 1945, in San Diego, she lived in Carlsbad for four years.

She retired in 1971 as an executive secretary for North American Rockwell. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Vista. She was a choir member, an artist and a poet.

Mrs. Szabo is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ernie Szabo of Carlsbad; mother Alice Fisher of Tulsa, Okla.; sons and daughters-in-law Steven John Szabo of Orange; Michael Szabo of Encinitas, Dean and Candi Szabo of Oceanside, Greg and Kristin Szabo of Aliso Viejo and Wayne and Lisa Szabo of San Clemente; brother and sister-in-law John and Michelle Polston of Mississippi; sister and brother-in-law Cheri and Richard Allman of Jenks, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the United Methodist Church of Vista, 490 S. Melrose Drive, with the Rev. Lynne Austin officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Timothy Taylor, 64

ESCONDIDO - Timothy Nathaniel Taylor, 64, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007.

Born Nov. 7, 1942, in Cincinnati, he lived in Escondido for six years. He was a salesman for Dixieline Lumber Co. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was an usher and trustee at Community Lutheran Church. He was a member of Gideon's International. He enjoyed fishing and crossword puzzles.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of seven years, Connie L. Taylor of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Michelle and Kenny Taylor of Lake Elsinore, and Wendy Taylor and Allison and Josh Tickenoff, all of Costa Mesa; brothers Walt Taylor of California, and Ken Taylor of Washington; sister Suzi Fleck of Tennessee; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service with military honors is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Community Lutheran Church, 3575 E. Valley Parkway in Escondido. Inurnment is planned.

Deborah Sloan, 72

ESCONDIDO -- Deborah Sloan, 72, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Palomar Medical Center.

Born March 28, 1934, in Los Angeles, she lived in Escondido for 33 years.

She was the owner of Deborah's Next to New Shoppe for 33 years.

She received many commendations such as Best Consignment shop of San Diego. She traveled to China, Japan, Europe, Canada and Mexico.

Mrs. Sloan is survived by her daughter, Rena Lewis; sons Kenneth, Michael and Paul; mother; brother; two sisters; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and an adopted daughter.

A memorial service celebrating her life is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Escondido Women's Club.

A private family memorial service will take place later in the year.

Leone Hobbs, 89

ESCONDIDO - Leone Marion Hallett Hobbs, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at Palomar Medical Center.

Born June 8, 1917, in Ames, Iowa, she lived in Escondido. She owned and trained the Iowa State Fair Champion Draft Horse.

She had a lifelong interest in football and horses. She was a teacher.

She worked at Consolidated (Convair) during World War II. She worked at the Escondido Orange Association packing house. She owned and operated The Metro in Escondido.

She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout leader; president of the Escondido Federation of Eagles and instructor in the English as a Second Language program.

Mrs. Hobbs was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; sister Bernice Long; and brother Wilbur Hallett.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Seecof of Imperial Beach and Alice White of Oceanside; son Jim Hobbs of Alpine; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family has various private gatherings planned to celebrate her life.

Gina Anderson

Gina Zehring Anderson was born on August 21, 1959, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Gina's parents are Hubert E. Zehring and Barbara Marie Nelson Zehring.

Gina passed away in Vista, California, on January 19, 2007.

Gina attended grammar and middle school in San Clemente, California. She graduated from Santa Monica High School in Santa Monica, California, and attended Santa Monica Community College for one semester and then moved to Mammoth Lakes, California.

Gina was united in marriage to Lew Jones on May 30, 1981, in Mammoth Lakes, California. During their union a daughter was born, Andrea, who still resides in Mammoth Lakes, California.

Gina also has a son, Adam Borden; Adam resides in Concord, California.

Gina moved to San Diego, California, in 1991.

Gina worked in several different areas of social services and was devoted to the individuals she helped during her life.

Gina married Jerry Anderson. She later married Rocky Hill. Rocky preceded her in death several years ago.

Gina is survived by her parents, Hubert "Herb" Zehring of Newberg, Oregon, and Barbara Solomon of Lincoln, California, daughter Andrea Jones of Mammoth Lakes, California, son Adam Borden of Concord, California, sister Lisa Grace and her husband, Harry, and a nephew Harry and niece Haylee of Northridge, California, her uncle Dale Zehring and wife Marilyn of Columbus, Nebraska, aunt Barbara Walther and husband, Keith "Butch" of Santa Monica, California.

Memorial services will be held at the New Community Church, Vista, Calif., at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007. A reception for friends and relatives will follow in the church hall.

Wilma 'Billie' Finch

Wilma "Billie" Finch, 95, lived a virtuous life in every way. She was passionate about her family, her friends, her community, her faith and her golf game.

On Wednesday, January 31, Billie passed away at the age of 95. She died peacefully of natural causes, surrounded by family and friends, at Huntington Manor in Poway, Calif.

Billie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 26, 1911. She was one of seven children born to William Pinckney Murphy and Florence Taylor Murphy.

Billie was married to Eugene Edward Finch in 1930. Together, they lived in Hawaii, Israel, Dayton, Ohio, Florida, Fort Worth and Waco, Texas. In 1985, they moved to Rancho Bernardo, Calif.

Billie is survived by her son, Ron; daughter Merrily; sister Blanch; and grandchildren Jonathan, Ashley and Meredith. Perhaps the best way to define Billie's life would be to say that she was truly loved by all.

A Texan at heart, she would welcome anyone with a genuine, "Howdy."

Billie was one of those people who was always happy and never complained about anything. She enriched our lives, made us stronger and wiser and taught us the importance of compassion, optimism, faith and love.

Viewing will be at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary, 13243 Poway Road, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 10.

Funeral service will follow from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 15750 Bernardo Heights Parkway.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Huntington Manor and the loving support of Billie's many friends.

Joseph Meyette

Joseph Raymond Adelard Meyette was born on October 1, 1929, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, to Dennis and Florence Meyette.

With the light of the full storm moon to light his way, he passed on to his next journey on February 3, 2007, after a long battle with cancer.

He served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1950.

In 1949 he married Barbara Chiesa, and they settled in Vista, where they had six children.

In his later years, Joe enjoyed square dancing and was a member of both the Ocean Wavers and Judy's First Class Rounders.

He was a volunteer at the Brengle Terrace Senior Center for many years, where he loved to sing and entertain everyone. He also enjoyed spending time at the Pala Casino, where he always played on his favorite lucky slot machine.

Joe was a "jack of all trades," able to build or repair almost anything using whatever he had on hand and avid determination.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Florence; four brothers, Francis, Armand, Leonard and Donald; one sister, Cecilia; his second wife, Gladys; and two of his children, son David and daughter Christine.

He is survived by his third wife, Margaret of Vista; sons Carl (Cheryl) Meyette of Bremerton, Washington, and Daryl Meyette of Escondido; and his daughters, Caryn (Chip) Wilder of Vista and Susan Martin of Bremerton, Washington. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jayson, Marian, Christopher, Heather, Sara, Michael and Jenny; and six great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Kayden, Hannah, Brandon, Tyler and Logan.

Services for Joe will be held on Monday, February 12, 2007, at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside.

Viewing is at 9 a.m. with ceremony following at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow at Eternal Hills immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Elizabeth Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
