OCEANSIDE ---- Someone apparently "suspiciously ignited" some spare toilet paper rolls in a hidden compartment in the bathroom of a dance club late Friday causing $10,000 worth of fire damage, Battalion Chief Ken Matsumoto said.
Firefighters were called at 11:25 p.m. to The Show Palace, 1527 Mission Ave., he said. No one was hurt.
When crews got on scene, they found smoke inside the large venue and everyone evacuating, Matsumoto said.
The firefighters were directed to the bathrooms by security guards and employees who were trying to put out the small fire using a fire extinguisher, he said.
The flames extended toward the ceiling and activated the automatic sprinklers which helped put the fire out, the battalion chief said. The bathrooms had moderate damage due to the fire and water damage.
