MSJC tabs Mazzotta as football coach

Mt. San Jacinto College hired Casey Mazzotta as its new head football coach, the school announced Thursday.
Mazzotta replaces Ed Carberry, who resigned in January to take the head job at Southwestern College.
"The committee felt that Casey was not only going to be a great head coach, but also a great instructor in the physical education department," MSJC athletic director Patrick Springer said in a statement.
Mazzotta comes to MSJC after six seasons at Fullerton College, the last five as defensive coordinator. Mazzotta also served for five years as head coach at Santa Ana Foothill and Bellflower, high schools, taking his teams to the playoffs each season.
"I think this is a great opportunity," Mazzotta said in a statement. "This is a real growth area, and I feel like I was ready to be a college head coach."
