RANCHO BERNARDO -- Thurston James Ruddy, 97, died of respiratory failure, May 28, 2007, at home.
Born June 9, 1909, in Aurora, Ill., he lived in Rancho Bernardo for 24 years. He was a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel. He graduated from the University of Illinois with an engineering degree. His hobbies were lapidary, genealogy and computers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Ruddy, in 1996. He is survived by son, Thomas Edward Ruddy of Whittier; daughter and son-in-law Gail Ruddy and Jeremiah Leigh Vicondova of Sun City; and one grandchild.
Private services were held June 23, with cremation and inurnment following.
The family suggests donations to Elizabeth Hospice in Escondido.
