Claude Blanchard, 89

FALLBROOK -- Claude R. Blanchard, 89, died after a prolonged illness Friday, June 22, 2007, in Davis.

Born Sept. 6, 1917, in Loureville, La., he lived in Fallbrook for 52 years. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1960. He served in both World War II and the Korean War. He earned an associate degree from Palomar College in the late 1970s. He loved to garden, watch and feed birds that visited his yard.

Mr. Blanchard was preceded in death by his wife, Emily, in 1986.

He is survived by son Michael Reagan of Phoenix and daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Danny Ybarra of Mission Viejo; Renee Blanchard and Steven Kowaleski of Orinda, Cynthia and Norman Bevc and Myra Blanchard, all of Davis; sister Eunice Hebert of Lafayette, La.; and five grandchildren.

A visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 3. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, both at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fallbrook. Burial will be at noon in Eternal Hills Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations to The Audubon Society, or the Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617, or the local hospice of choice.

Eternal Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery in Oceanside is handling arrangements.
