ESCONDIDO -- Cecelia C. Groch, 90, died Friday, June 14, 2007, in Michigan City, Ind.
She was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Michigan City, Ind. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Polish Business & Professional Club and the LaPorte Co. Tavern Association. For more than 70 years, she was the owner of Gabby's Tavern in Michigan City.
Mrs. Groch was preceded in death by her husband, Gabriel F. Groch, in 1963, five sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter Christine Stayback of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; son Donald L. Groch of South Bend, Ind., and son and daughter-in-law Gregory P. and Laura Groch of Escondido; sisters Helen Gonsiorowski of Merrillville, Ind. and Alice Jasinski of Kenosha, Wis.; five granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass was celebrated June 20 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial followed in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
