SAN DIEGO COUNTY -- John Brice, 75, died of diabetic complications Friday, June 22, 2007, in Encinitas.
He was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Alhambra. He graduated from St. Francis High School in La Canada and received a bachelor of law at Long Beach State. He served in the Korean War. He was a divisional claims superintendent of San Diego and Imperial counties for State Farm until he retired in 1987. He was ordained a deacon for the San Diego Catholic Diocese and served at St. James Church in Solana Beach from 1984 until 2001.
Mr. Brice was preceded by Robert Brice during World War II and Mary Jane Ouellette in 2005.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vivian Brice, of Carlsbad; sons and daughters-in-law Tom and Renee Brice of Richmond, Ky., and David and Meri Brice of Vista; daughters and son-in-law Janet Brice of Carlsbad and Kristin and Ray Salazar of San Marcos; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Evaline of Pasadena; sister and brother-in-law Jean and Jack Bull of San Clemente; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday, June 29, at St. James in Solana Beach.
North County Cremation Service is handling arrangements.
