Robert Stacy, 86

ESCONDIDO -- Robert A. Stacy, 86, died Friday, June 22, 2007, in Escondido.

Born Aug. 27, 1920, in Covington, Ky., he lived in Escondido for 21 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He earned a bachelor's degree in electric engineering from the University of Dayton. He played basketball and baseball in college. He worked as a chief engineer for McDonnell-Douglas and retired in 1986. He enjoyed golf, photography, reading, working on his computer, traveling, painting and spending time with his Great Dane.

Mr. Stacy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Delores Stacy, of Escondido; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Gerry Stacy of Yorba Linda and William and Sharon Stacy of San Diego; daughter and son-in law Daniel and Lynn Stacy Hammill of Ramona; and four grandchildren.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, at San Rafael Catholic Parish, 17252 Bernardo Center Drive, Rancho Bernardo. Monsignor Dennis Mikulanis will officiate. A private inurnment is planned at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

The family suggests donations to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.

Alhiser-Comer Mortuary is handling arrangements.
