FALLBROOK ---- Richard L. Berger Jr., 87, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Fallbrook Hospital.
Born Sept. 23, 1919, in Atlantic City, N.J., he lived in Fallbrook for 49 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1939 to 1959. He retired from civil service in 1979.
Mr. Berger was preceded in death by his son, Richard L. Berger III of Anchorage, Alaska. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Emma Berger, of Fallbrook; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Rosalie Berger; daughter Linda Berger of Fallbrook; daughter-in-law Jean Berger of Anchorage, Alaska; and five grandchildren.
The family suggests donations to Alzheimer research.
A private cremation is planned with cremains scattered at sea.
Oceanside Mortuary is handling arrangements.
