ENCINITAS ---- Cornelius E. Pickering, 26, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at Scripps La Jolla Hospital in San Diego.
Born Aug. 13, 1980, in Urbana, Ill., he lived in Encinitas. He was a 1998 graduate of Monticello High School, Monticello, Ill. He attended Arizona State University, graduating in 2004. He worked for Every Method Computers in Encinitas, as an operations manager and also worked at the Pacific Coast Grill in Solana Beach. He enjoyed surfing, skateboarding and playing guitar.
Mr. Pickering was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne Cable. He is survived by his mother, Sheri Kyle of Peoria, Ill.; his stepfather Gerald Cable of Cisco, Ill.; his fiancÈe, Christina Chomut, of Encinitas; brother and sister-in-law Kalaab and Michelle Pickering of Chillicothe, Ill.; and grandparents Michael and Mary Tracey of Hopewell, Ill., and Dot Cable of Monticello, Ill.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Pastor Cliff Parks will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Chillicothe City Cemetery.

His smile and always happy disposition was a gift from God. What a treasure. He touched many lives by just being Cornelius.
