OCEANSIDE ---- William J. Downer Jr., 74, died at home on Friday, June 15, 2007.
Mr. Downer was born Sept. 29, 1932, in Springfield, Ill. He had a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a master's degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan. He was a retired lietenant colonel in the U. S. Army Reserves. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oceanside and the Carlsbad Rotary Club. He was a former CEO of hospitals in Great Falls, Mont. and Grand Rapids, Mich,. and city commissioner in Great Falls, Mont.
Mr. Downer is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wanda Downer of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Pamela Downer of Valley Center; son Larry Downer of San Diego; brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Jeanne of Green Valley, Ariz., and Jim and Kathy of Springfield, Ill.; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 2, at the First Presbyterian Church, Oceanside.

The Trident Society of Mission Viejo is handling arrangements.
