SAN DIEGO - Police pursued a teenager and his 16-year-old female companion from Miramar to Rancho Penasquitos today before the stolen sedan they were in crashed into an SUV, leaving them slightly injured, authorities said.
The chase began about 2:40 a.m. when the 17-year-old boy behind the wheel of a stolen 1996 Acura Integra failed to pull over at Black Mountain and Miramar roads, San Diego police said.
The pursuit continued north on Black Mountain, through Mira Mesa and into Rancho Penasquitos before it wound up in a residential neighborhood and crashed into a Ford Explorer parked in the 9600 block of Limar Way, Sgt. Kerry Tom said.
Slightly injured when the air bags deployed, the boy and the girl ran from the wreckage, Tom said. Officers gave chase and eventually caught the pair, he said.
Officers believe the wrecked car contained several stolen car stereos, Tom said.
