SAN MARCOS -- Jerry T. Kahnert Jr., 56, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007.

Mr. Kahnert was born Nov. 7, 1950, in Brawley. He lived in San Marcos for 36 years. He was a sheet metal worker on commercial construction projects.

Mr. Kahnert was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Kahnert Sr., in 2007. He is survived by his mother, Twyla Kahnert of San Marcos; daughters Kristi Hughes of San Marcos and Charlotte Lawson of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother Gary Kahnert; sister Diane Billings; and four grandchildren.

There will be a private family memorial service and cremation.

Memorial donations may be made to the San Diego Hospice Foundation, 4311 Third Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103.

California Funeral Alternatives is handling arrangements.
