OMA holds surfing exhibit, concert, film

OCEANSIDE ---- Oceanside Museum of Art will celebrate a summer of surfing with an exhibition, an artist talk, a concert and a film. "The 70s: Surf Photography by Jeff Divine and Classic Boards from the Era" is the exhibition that kicks off the series of events at the museum, 704 Pier View Way. Divine will be on hand at the museum from 7 to 9 p.m. July 19 to take guests through the galleries and talk about his years following the surfing circuit to capture the photos that define an era. Admission is free to OMA members; $5 for nonmembers. Light refreshments will be served. The exhibition runs through Sept. 2.
A concert featuring The Surf Kings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 9 at the museum. A beer and pizza reception will begin the evening with a chance to view the exhibition. Admission is $10 for OMA members; $15 for nonmembers.
Rounding out the series is "Surf Film Night," presented in partnership with the California Surf Museum, Aug. 18 in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms, 330 N. Coast Highway. Attendees will meet at the museum to view the exhibition at 6:30 p.m., followed by the film at 7. The evening will recall the height of the 70s when surfing ruled the beaches around the world.
