Actors needed for commercials

MURRIETA -- A casting call for those interested in the chance to appear in TV commercials will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Murrieta.

Stepping into Hollywood asks that those auditioning dress casually, bring a snapshot and be prepared to say something about themselves. All types of people are needed, ages 6 to senior, organizers say.

'Wizard of Oz' to be screened

MURRIETA -- "The Wizard of Oz" will be screened Saturday in Town Square Park. The free movie will be shown at 7 p.m.

Science part of family night

TEMECULA -- Science Night will be the theme of Family Activities Night on Monday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Participants can try experiments, such as bottle rockets, and they could get messy.

Senior Committee seeks crafters

CANYON LAKE -- Registration for adult crafters will begins Monday for the seventh annual Canyon Lake Holiday Boutique. The event will be Nov. 10 and 11.

All crafts must be handmade. The entry fee is $15 and 15 percent of sales will be donated to the senior center.

Registration is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday as well as Sept. 17 and 24 and Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. There will also be an evening sign up from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Canyon Lake Senior Center, 23307 Canyon Lake Drive.

Church offers many activities

WILDOMAR -- Cornerstone Community Church is offering programs for singles, couples and the military

Couples Connection, an opportunity for spouses to meet with other couples for practical teaching and socializing, will begin Tuesday. Described as a youth group for adults, couples will be given tools to help make marriages better. Classes meet from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. and child care is available. The cost is $20 per couple. Computer courses begin

LAKE ELSINORE -- The Lake Elsinore Senior Center will offer a series of computer classes beginning Tuesday.

Introduction to Computer Basics, Basic II, Basic Internet and Basic eBay meet for 90 minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes are open to all adults.

LAKE ELSINORE -- A representative from the Social Security Administration will visit the Lake Elsinore Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Hospice fund-raiser features wine, chocolate

TEMECULA -- Hospice of the Valleys 11th annual A Day of Wine & Chocolate fund-raiser will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at Wilson Creek Winery.

There will be wine and chocolate tasting and live and silent auctions.

Proceeds benefit the hospice's terminally ill patients and their families.

Go-cart race to benefit Michelle's Place

MURRIETA -- A chance to be crowned fastest in town awaits those who participate in a go-cart race to benefit Michelle's Place, the women's breast cancer resource center in Murrieta.

Race for the Ribbon will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17, and the $60 entry fee will include a 14-lap race, food, T-shirt and trophies to the four fastest racers. A raffle will also be held.

Seminar to focus on attention disorders

MURRIETA -- The ADHD Solutions Center will offer a seminar on attention disorders Sept. 30.

Linda Donnelly, director of the center, will present an overview of the several types of attention problems and discuss the latest research. She will also describe how attention disorders are diagnosed, explain treatment options and offer practical parenting techniques.

The seminar will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Murrieta Springs Professional Park, 39755 Murrieta Hot Springs Road, Building C. Admission is $10 per person or $15 for a couple. Reservations are requested by calling 677-2937.

Blood drives

MURRIETA -- Valley Blood Services will hold two blood drives Tuesday to remember America's Sept. 11 heroes.

The drives will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the center, 25115 Madison Ave., Suite 105, and from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Murrieta Police Department, 24701 Jefferson Ave.

All donors will receive a "Never Forget" T-shirt. The donor center will also offer bone marrow testing.

    Grubby Dogs plans fashion show

    MURRIETA -- Grubby Dogs Petwash will celebrate its second anniversary with the second annual Doggy Fashion Show from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 15.

    The event will include canines strutting the latest fashions, a best-dressed pet contest, K-9 unit demonstrations, music, door prizes, raffles, and pet adoptions.

    Vendors will be selling pet fashions, canine cookies and treats, training classes, low cost vaccinations and other products.

    The event is free, although donations will be accepted to benefit local rescue groups and POPCO.
