DUI suspect arrested after Carlsbad crash; witnesses sought

CARLSBAD -- A man suspected of causing a three-vehicle crash while driving drunk was arrested late this morning, authorities said. - Samuel Flores, 39, may have caused the crash that occurred near El Camino Real and Arenal Road and left one person with minor injuries, police said.
Officers were called at about 11:30 a.m. by a motorist who reported a man in a new black Ford truck speeding and driving over curbs at the intersection of Palomar Airport Road and El Camino Real, Lt. J. Eppel said.
The driver continued southbound and was stopped by officers north of La Costa Avenue, Eppel said.
Flores was booked into the Vista jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, the lieutenant said.
Witnesses to the collision are asked to call Carlsbad police Officer Thurman at (760) 931-2282.

Facts wrote on Sep 17, 2007 5:14 PM:Thanks NCT for sharing with us the facts, including the name of the suspect and his violations. I'm sure there are some who would rather keep the name quiet and will call me a racist, hate-filled bigot, etc but I don't care. We need to know who is causing these risks to the public and get them stopped. My kids and grandkids drive these streets and I don't want their lives jeopardized by thoughtless individuals who do not seem to care about others.
