CARLSBAD -- A man suspected of causing a three-vehicle crash while driving drunk was arrested late Monday morning, authorities said.

Samuel Flores, 39, may have caused the crash that occurred near El Camino Real and Arenal Road and left one person with minor injuries, police said. Witnesses to the collision are asked to call Carlsbad police Officer Thurman at (760) 931-2282.

Officers were called moments after the crash at about 11:27 a.m. by a motorist who reported a man -- later identified as Flores -- speeding and driving over curbs in a new black Ford truck at the intersection of Palomar Airport Road and El Camino Real, police said.

The truck continued southbound and was stopped by officers north of La Costa Avenue, Lt. J. Eppel said.

Flores was booked into the Vista jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, the lieutenant said.
