North County Exchange: Marriott to open hotel in Oceanside

Marriott International Inc. is slated to open its 125-suite Residence Inn San Diego/Oceanside at 3603 Ocean Ranch Blvd. in Oceanside today. The hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise and is owned by R.D. Olson Development of Irvine.

'Educator Savings Week' on tap -- Borders, Borders Express and Waldenbooks stores will host "Educator Savings Week" today through Tuesday, which will feature giveaways, raffles, special events and discounts for educators. There also will be a special reception for educators from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Borders.

Among the participating North County locations are: Borders Books & Music, 1905 Calle Barcelona, Carlsbad; Borders Express, 285 Plaza Camino Real, Carlsbad; and Waldenbooks, 200 E. Via Rancho Parkway, Escondido.

Del Sur to be featured in 'green' tours -- Del Sur will be featured in three environmental events this fall: San Diego Green 2007, an annual industry conference co-sponsored by the San Diego chapters of the Green Building Council and the American Institute of Architects, today through Friday; the public GreenBuilt Tour 2007 by San Diego EARTHWorks, Saturday and Sunday; and Solar Energy Week, a public event and solar home tour organized by the California Center for Sustainable Energy, Oct. 21-27.

Economic Development Corp. plans luncheon -- The Economic Development Corp. of Southwest California will host "An Entrepreneur's View: Top Growth Opportunities in Southwest California" at its quarterly luncheon set for 11:30 a.m. Thursday at South Coast Winery in Temecula.

Claim Jumper to celebrate anniversary -- Claim Jumper Restaurants will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Thursday.

In honor of the milestone, Claim Jumper will be giving away 30,000, $5 gift cards while supplies last. One guest will win a vacation for two to Las Vegas for the grand opening of the Claim Jumper Restaurant at Las Vegas Town Square, scheduled to open Nov. 14.
