Contemporary Women of North County, a local women's volunteer organization, hosted Susan Hall of the Angel's Depot as the guest speaker at a recent meeting. Hall founded Angel's Depot in April 2005 to help local senior citizens in need. Each month, the organization provides 650 seniors with weekly boxes of nutritious, nonperishable food. The food, donated by individuals, clubs and businesses in the area, is packed into boxes by volunteers every Saturday morning and Tuesday evening and distributed weekly through various senior centers, churches and shelters.
At right, CWONC members Laura Collins, left, and Ann Lygas, right, present boxes of raisins to Hall. Members of the club have been donating boxes of raisins every month and have helped with packing food boxes at the Angel's Depot facility in Vista. Donations of food and money are needed to continue the work and to help more seniors.
