ESCONDIDO -- Scott Eveland, the injured Mission Hills High School linebacker who collapsed during a game last month, has shown an increase in spontaneous movement recently, but his condition remains unchanged, a Palomar Medical Center spokesman said Saturday.

The spontaneous movement is no indication that Eveland's condition is improving or deteriorating, said Andy Hoang, spokesman for the Escondido hospital treating the teen.

Eveland remained in critical condition Saturday night, Hoang said. The 17-year-old senior slipped into a coma after staggering off the field in the early minutes of the second quarter of a football game on Sept. 14.

The brain surgeon treating the injured teen said Eveland suffered an acute subdural hematoma -- a blood clot on the surface of the brain -- and brain swelling. His injury is comparable to those suffered by traffic crash victims, the doctor, Vrijesh Tantuwaya, said in late September.

I hope that the same comes for our Scotty. Love all of you and pray everyday for a miracle for him and all of you. Stay strong.

Not much any top specialist can do at this point, as hard as that fact may be to accept.-
