CONFIRMED CLOSURES

All San Diego County public and charter schools will be closed through Saturday, according to county school officials. The closures include all North County school districts.

All schools administered by the Archdiocese of San Diego will be closed for the remainder of the week.

All school-affiliated practices, games, team and individual tournaments are canceled through Saturday, according to the county education officials.

Tri-City Christian Schools will be closed for the remainder of the week.

San Diego State University officials canceled classes through Saturday.

University of Phoenix, San Diego Learning Centers will be closed today.

All four UC San Diego extension locations will be closed today.

Cal State San Marcos officials canceled classes through Saturday.

Thomas Jefferson School of Law officials canceled classes through today.

City Hall closures:

n Escondido ---- Closed today.

n Del Mar, Encinitas, Oceanside, San Marcos, Solana Beach and Vista city halls plan to operate during regular business hours today.

County closures:

San Diego Superior Courts will be closed to the public through Monday. Employees who are able to work are asked to report to supervisors Thursday.

Kaiser Permanente North County area medical offices will be closed today.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, San Marcos office will be closed today.

Scripps Ranch Community Center will be closed today.

San Marcos County Clerk's office will be closed today.

All county personnel should report for a regular business day unless prevented by personal circumstances.

Library closures:

The following North County branches will be closed today:

Fallbrook, Julian, Ramona, Rancho Santa Fe and Valley Center

All North Mobile Library stops are also canceled for today.

Camp Pendleton:

Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Corps Base personnel should report to base at 7:30 a.m. today. All other military and Department of Defense employees should contact their supervisors. Call (866) 430-2764 for more information.

WHERE TO HELP OR GET HELP

Businesses nationwide can call a toll-free hotline to donate goods to fire victims, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced Tuesday.

Companies can call (800) 750-2858 between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. to make in-kind donations. Operators from the Governor's Office of Emergency Services will match donations to disaster efforts across Southern California. 

Individuals wishing to make a financial donation through the American Red Cross can call 1-800-REDCROSS or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish), or make a secure contribution online at www.redcross.org.

The Red Cross has scheduled several more trainings for disaster volunteers today. They need volunteers to assist in registering folks for these trainings as well. Volunteer shifts are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Trainings will take place at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m.

Training will be held at Horizon Christian Fellowship Church, 5331 Mt. Allifan Drive, San Diego.

Walnut Grove Park in Vista is accepting evacuees and horses. The park has about 100 horses and as of 1 p.m. Tuesday could fit about 100 more, an organizer said. The park is at Olive and Sycamore streets.

The Poway Community Center is seeking monetary donations for Witch Creek fire evacuees being housed at the center. It no longer needs supplies. Make checks payable to the Poway Rotary. Donations are tax deductible. Mark your donation “Poway Fire Victims” and deliver to Poway City Hall, 13325 Civic Center Drive, drop it in the overnight box located in the parking lot, or mail to Poway Rotary, P.O. Box 184, Poway, CA 92074.

The shelter at Carlsbad High School has plenty of volunteers but needs donations of a variety of items to help those who are seeking refuge there. School officials ask that items such as sleeping bags, pillows and toiletries, be taken to the school, 3557 Monroe St. Call Lisa Rodman at (760) 434 4959.

Valley Center High School evacuation center needs food and water donations are needed, center volunteers said. The school is housing about 1,500 evacuees, volunteers said.

The Red Cross is currently not providing any support, said Shawnee Burdick. Call (760) 594-2795 for information.

New Song Community Church evacuation shelter in Oceanside is asking for donations of cots, air mattresses, mats, sleeping bags, blankets, bedding, and clothing. Donations can be taken to the church, 3985 Mission Ave. in Oceanside, on Mission Avenue between Douglas and Rancho del Oro drives. Call (760) 560-5000.

Five San Diego Blood Bank bloodmobiles will be accepting donations at Qualcomm Stadium from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today.

Donors can also give blood at the following donation centers: 440 Upas St. in San Diego, 680 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon and 1727 Sweetwater Road in National City.

Donation centers at 1340 W. Valley Parkway in Escondido and 161 Thunder Drive in Vista may remain closed depending on the air quality.

The Burn Institute is seeking donations for its special assistance fund for burn survivors and their families that provides temporary housing, transportation assistance and food vouchers, according to spokeswoman Diane Sparacino. The Escondido Humane Society has issued a call for supplies, volunteers and monetary donations to assist with the care of the shelter's 600 animals. San Diego officials are seeking qualified physicians and registered nurses to volunteer at the Qualcomm Stadium evacuation center. Report to the Club Level, Section 12, for information about relieving medical personnel currently working at the site. No other volunteers are needed at this time.

In addition, the city is still seeking corporate and bulk donations for the broader relief efforts throughout San Diego. Call (619) 236-6175 to reach a logistics team member.

People looking for temporary housing for their pets or livestock can call the San Diego Animal Support Foundation, which is coordinating free housing options for the public. For information on where to find your animal a home or to open up your residence to others, call (619) 847-8755.

Operation Homefront's Southern California chapter is offering to help military families who have lost homes and possessions or need a little extra support during evacuations.

Operation Homefront has also created a Fire Relief Fund. Call (619) 846-6491 to request assistance or visit www.operationhomefront.com/socal.

The Jewish community has established the Jewish Community Disaster Fund for those affected by the fires.

Checks can be made payable to the Jewish Community Foundation and sent to Jewish Community Disaster Fund, c/o Jewish Community Foundation, 4950 Murphy Canyon Road, San Diego, CA  92123. Credit card contributions may be processed online at www.jewishinsandiego.org.

Free counseling by telephone is available for those affected by the Southern California wildfires from United Health Group. The master's-level specialists are available by calling toll-free (866)-342-6892, around the clock, for as long as necessary.

Home Depot is allowing people who have been evacuated to park in store lots in Temecula and Poway. In addition, the Mira Mesa store will offer extended hours from 6 a.m. to midnight, beginning Thursday, to assist people in need of cleanup supplies.

The company has also set up an assistance line for its employees who sustained losses in the fires. For more information, call (877) 694-3411.
