Libraries offer activities

TEMECULA ---- Temecula's two public libraries have a number of events scheduled this month.

The Temecula Library Book Discussion Group at the Temecula Public Library will have a brown bag viewing of the movie "A Painted Veil" by Somerset Maugham from noon to 3 p.m. Monday.

The Friends Classics group will discuss the holiday classic "The Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Dec. 5.

Studies in Philosophies will discuss the book "Sophie's World" from 2 to 4 p.m. starting Nov. 11.

The family programs will feature Goodnight Moon Pajama Storytime, "BFF: Best Friends Forever," at 7 p.m. Monday.

Baby Sign Storytime, an interactive storytime for babies younger than age 2 with stories and sign language, will meet at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Mysteries of the Fairy Kingdom, with enchanted tales about her mischievous fairy friends, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday for ages 3 and older.

Registration is under way for Children's Book Week Rock 'n' Read-a-thon, which will take place Nov. 12 to 18 for children 3 to 12.

The teen program will offer "Survivor: Temecula Library Outwit, Outplay, Outlast!" at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Participants ages 13 to 17 can test their library survival skills to determine the ultimate survivor.

At the Grace Mellman Community Library, the Adult Book Discussion Group will talk about "The Glass Castle" by Jeannet Walls at 7 p.m. Monday.

Computer Class I, which teaches basic computer skills, will meet at 7 p.m. Friday. Advanced registration is required.

Participants can create a corn husk doll to celebrate the fall! at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Registration is under way and pace is limited to 60 children 5 and older.

Children 8 and older can warm up for Children's Book Week, which is Nov. 12 to 18, as authors Mary Hochenauer and Lois (Suji) Hochenauer-Fox read their holiday story at 4 p.m. Friday.
