A New York financier who is one of four men accused in schemes to bribe then-U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham is scheduled to appear in a San Diego federal courtroom Monday morning to change his plea in the bribery case.
The move comes less than three weeks before trial was set to begin for John Thomas Michael, who ran a company that prosecutors said was used to launder money to pay off Cunningham while he was a congressman representing North County.
Michael has pleaded not guilty to money laundering and other allegations.
Three men, including Cunningham, have already been convicted in the bribery scheme, the largest in congressional history.
