A year after leading the Storm to the California League Championship Series, manager Carlos Lezcano will return to manage Lake Elsinore in 2008, Padres farm director Grady Fuson announced this week.

Lezcano led the Storm to a 74-65 record and came within one game of winning a title, falling to the San Jose Giants in Game 5. He managed the Padres' rookie-level affiliate from 2003-2006 and will enter his 16th year managing this season.

Lezcano will be joined by pitching coach Wally Whitehurst and hitting coach Shane Spencer. Whitehurst spent the last four seasons at Single-A Fort Wayne (Ind.), while Spencer -- who played outfield for the Yankees, Indians, Rangers and Mets -- will make his coaching debut. Will Sinon returns for his second year as the Storm's athletic trainer.
