Not a bad place to catch up on Moss

There's no doubt that 2007 has been the year of Randy Moss and the New England Patriots. With Tom Brady throwing the passes, Moss has returned to the top of the NFL heap after several middling years in Oakland.

He and Brady set records for receiving touchdowns (23) and TD passes (50), respectively. And everywhere you look, there's another story about how Moss has matured during his time in New England.

Until this week, when Moss was hit with an allegation of battery by the lawyer of a Florida woman, not a bad word was said about the superstar receiver.

One year after he was accused of being a bad teammate in Oakland, Moss is the king again, just as he was in his early years with the Minnesota Vikings.

Yes, the Moss lovefest has returned in full force. So let's drop in on www.mosszone.com to see what's new with a popular fan site for the 10-year veteran.

Cool stuff

Good video footage of Moss highlights, from his days at Marshall through the present. None of them, however, are from 2007, which kind of stinks. There also seems to be a shortage from his days with the Raiders, but I don't think that was the Webmaster's fault.

Great pictures, including a ton from 2007.

The forum seems to be pretty lively, too. In fact, that's where I saw the most information about Moss' current predicament. By the way, I'm not the poster who argues that Jerry Rice was much better than Moss.

Check at the door

I was interested in checking Moss' statistics through one of the top links on his site. Unfortunately, the Webmaster has a different idea, as the stats are updated only through the first 10 games of the season.

There's no news links anywhere. On the front page, you can scroll up and down, but the news is paltry. I realize this is a Moss fan site, but there should be links to all available stories, including ones about the alleged battery.

The grade

I really like a lot about this site. It offers a few of Moss' old commercials, with some funny interaction between him and Cris Carter. It also has a lot of video highlights and pictures, but they're not up to date. Give it three out of five mouses for having good ideas but not fully delivering.

Staff writer Dan Hayes was smart enough to jump on the Moss bandwagon before this NFL season began and draft him on several of his fantasy football teams. For that, he and his heavier wallet thank Moss. Contact Hayes at dhayes@nctimes.com. Comment at sports.nctimes.com.
