A number of local women have been nominated as part of the For You Network sixth annual awards luncheon.
The network is part of the Ultimate Women's Network with Heart, whose mission is to help women grow both personally and professionally.
There are 19 For You Networks in the region, including one in Murrieta.
Awards will be presented in 14 categories Feb. 23 in Riverside.
In addition to the luncheon, attendees bring toiletries and linens to be donated to homeless women.
For You Network is an affiliate of the National Association of Female Executives, the nation's largest business women's network, with more than 66,000 members nationwide.

CLUB NEWS
History group offers library
LAKE ELSINORE -- The Lake Elsinore Historical Society opens its museum and research library to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and 1 to 3 p.m. the fourth Sunday of the month.
The facility also schedules visitation from school groups, clubs and associations.

Marine Corps League hosts speaker
MURRIETA -- Joe Bindert will speak when the Murrieta-Temecula Detachment 1057 Marine Corps League meets at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Bindert, of Murrieta, is a Navy corpsman who recently finished his second tour in Iraq.
The group is composed of current and former U.S. Marines with honorable service. All qualified Marines are eligible to join.

Boys, Girls clubs offer golf, T-ball
TEMECULA -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest County is registering children for Itty Bitty Golf and T-Ball.
The six-week Itty Bitty Golf program, for ages 3 to 5, will run:
The eight-week T-Ball program, for ages 4 to 7, will run Saturdays, Jan. 26 to March 15, at Paloma Elementary School and the Alberhill Ranch Clubhouse.
The fee is $80 for club members and $100 for others. Participants will receive a uniform and participation award.

Elks Ladies plan dance
LAKE ELSINORE -- The Elk Ladies will host a dance from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday featuring Frank Rote.

Wildomar council plans meeting
WILDOMAR -- Wildomar Community Council will hold its final election information meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Community Church.

Men's a capella chorus forming
TEMECULA -- The Wine Valley Harmonizers, a new men's a capella chorus, is seeking members.
The chorus covers songs by artists such as Elvis Presley and the Righteous Brothers, as well as tunes from movies. It is directed by Jonathan Friedman.
The group meets from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesdays at The Sterling at Vintage Hills, 41780 Butterfield Stage Road.

Citizens committee to gather
LAKE ELSINORE -- The Lake Elsinore Citizens Committee will hold a quarterly meeting at 7 p.m Jan. 31 at the Tuscany Hills Recreation Center.
The speakers will be Lake Elsinore Mayor Daryl Hickman and City Manager Bob Brady. They will discuss the future of the city. There also will be an update on the progress made by the Lake Elsinore Princess Foundation.
The mission of the committee is to keep residents informed about the progress and events taking place in the city.

GOP group hosts speaker
TEMECULA -- Larry Greenfield, California director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, will speak when the Murrieta-Temecula Republican Assembly meets Feb. 1 at Pat & Oscar's.
Greenfield is a frequent lecturer on national security affairs and served in Naval intelligence.
Check-in is at 6 p.m. and the dinner meeting begins at 6:30. The cost is $15 for members; $10 for students or the program without dinner and $20 for others.

High Hopes plans Valentine's dance
TEMECULA -- The Temecula High Hopes Program will have a Valentine's dinner and dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Temecula Community Center.
High Hopes is a social recreation program for special needs adults.
Dinner will be catered. The cost is $1 for Temecula residents and $2 for others.

Women's club plans benefit cruise
TEMECULA -- The Temecula Valley Woman's Club is planning a trip to Mexico to benefit Michelle's Place, a breast cancer resource center.
"Fiesta at Sea" cruisers will set sail March 14 on Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas, returning March 17. Cabins begin at $329 per person.

Musicians sought for Rotary contest
TEMECULA -- Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club is seeking musicians from local high schools or home schools to compete in its annual Music Competition.
The competition will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Grace Presbyterian Church.
Vocalists, pianists and instrumentalists will compete and winners will advance to the Rotary District 5330 finals.
Prizes are $400 for first place, $250 second place and $100 for third.

Dinner to help build veterans center
OCEANSIDE -- The Veterans Association of North (San Diego) County is holding a fundraiser Feb. 23 to refurbish an old police station in Oceanside into a meeting place for veterans.

SUN CITY -- A ribbon cutting for Kabian Park's new playground will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Peace march set for Sunday
TEMECULA -- A peace march is planned for noon Sunday at the Duck Pond.
Participants will march along Ynez Road with a message that war is not the answer.

Stars of the Valley event set
TEMECULA -- Stars of the Valley, an annual fundraising event that honors local business owners and residents, will be held Feb. 9 at Wilson Creek Winery.
Hosted by the local nonprofit organization Charity for Charity, proceeds will be donated to a local family in need.
The event includes a red carpet, paparazzi and a Hollywood-style awards party.

CASA seeks volunteers
MURRIETA -- Court Appointed Special Advocates for Riverside County Inc. is seeking volunteers to represent the interests of abused, neglected and abandoned children in the juvenile court system.
More than 6,000 children are subject to judicial proceedings in Riverside County each year. CASA volunteers are advocates who seek to help these children secure safe, permanent and nurturing homes.
Countywide training is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all four Saturdays in February in Moreno Valley.
