San Diego hearing added for power line

SAN DIEGO ---- Residents of metropolitan San Diego now will get the chance to formally weigh in on the draft environmental impact report prepared this month for the proposed $1.3 billion, 150-mile Sunrise Powerlink transmission line without driving an hour or longer.
Sen. Christine Kehoe, D-San Diego, announced Thursday that the California Public Utilities Commission granted her request to hold an additional public participation hearing in San Diego.
Previously, the commission had scheduled public workshops in three counties ---- including one in the Rancho Penasquitos area of San Diego ---- for next week, to let people ask questions of those who wrote the report. But it scheduled sessions only in Ramona, Borrego Springs and Pine Valley, at the end of next month, for the purpose of providing comments that would be taken into account as the agency works to finalize the report.
The added public hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at the San Diego County Administration Center, in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, at 1600 Pacific Highway.
