Sourthwest Riverside County Health briefs: Yoga offered at senior center

MURRIETA ---- Yoga classes are offered twice weekly at the Murrieta Senior Center.

Classes are held at 9:15 a.m. Thursdays and 9:30 a.m. Fridays. The cost is $5 per class.

CPR classes set for Feb. 2

CPR and first aid classes will be offered in Temecula and Murrieta on Feb. 2.

Classes for adult, child and infant CPR and first aid will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Mary Phillips Senior Center in Temecula.

Two-year certification cards will be issued upon completion of the classes. CPR and first aid can be taken together or as separate classes. Individual classes cost $35 and the combined class is $60, plus a materials fee of $15 or $20.

The classes are offered the first Saturday of the month at the center, 41845 Sixth St. For information, visit www.cityoftemecula.org.

Pediatric first aid and CPR courses will be offered by the Murrieta Valley Unified School District Parent Center from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The class meets Department of Public Social Services licensing requirements. The cost is $75 and registration is required before the day of the class.

Kick boxing classes to begin

TEMECULA ---- Cardio kick boxing classes will begin Feb. 4 at Harveston Community Park. Classes will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 4 to 27.

Instruction includes a cardiovascular workout, toning and strength training. The four-week class costs $30.

Other sessions start March 3, April 7, May 5 and June 2.

Family nutrition topic of talk

TEMECULA ---- Family Nutrition Made Simple will be the topic of a talk from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at Harveston Community park.

Amy Quinn will give tips and share recipes for healthy eating. Participants will receive a packet of healthy recipes and a shopping list. The cost is $20 per person.

Mommy and baby yoga classes slated

TEMECULA ---- Yoga classes for moms and babies will begin Feb. 7 at Harveston Community Park.

The class, for moms and babies up to crawling age, will meet at 9:15 a.m. for four Thursdays. The cost is $50.

Other sessions start March 6, April 17 and May 15.

Kids fitness class offered

TEMECULA ---- Children 3 to 9 can learn about a healthy lifestyle in a kids fitness class, which will begin Feb. 9 at Harveston Community Park.

The children will get a 60-minute workout on child-sized stationary bikes and treadmills and learn about staying active and healthy eating.

Classes will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturdays from Feb. 9 to March 29 and from April 5 to May 31.

The fee is $64 for eight weeks.

Seminar to focus on attention disorders

MURRIETA ---- The ADHD Solutions Center will offer a seminar on attention disorders Feb. 10.

Linda Donnelly, director of the center, will present an overview of the several types of attention problems and discuss the latest research. She will also describe how attention disorders are diagnosed, explain treatment options and offer practical parenting techniques.

The seminar will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Murrieta Springs Professional Park, 39755 Murrieta Hot Springs Road, Building C. Admission is $10 per person or $15 for a couple. Reservations are requested by calling 677-2937.

Temecula fitness program continues

TEMECULA ---- The Fitness in Temecula program is now held year-round at two parks. It was a summer-only event the past three years.

The free program helps residents keep in shape by walking or running around a track. Information about health topics is also offered. Tracking cards are available for people who want to track their progress, and prizes are offered to participants.

The program runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at Ronald Reagan Sports Park, 42569 Margarita Road, and Harveston Community Park, 28582 Harveston Drive.

Center offers classes, groups

SUN CITY ---- Tai chi classes are offered from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Monday through Thursday at Center for Spiritual Living.

Classes are free, but an offering is accepted.

Two support groups meet at the center, as well. Overeaters Anonymous meets at 10 a.m. Mondays and Co-dependence Anonymous meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays.

    Donors must be at least 17 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds.
