L.T. officially out of Pro Bowl
By: MIKE SULLIVAN --- Staff Writer | ∞
PHOENIX ---- Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson officially pulled out of the Pro Bowl on Wednesday because of his injured left knee.
It was announced that Baltimore's Willis McGahee would replace Tomlinson on the AFC roster.
Tomlinson really had no choice to do anything but pull out of the Feb. 10 contest after the firestorm of criticism he received when he was unable to play after the opening minutes of the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots on Jan. 20.
Tomlinson re-aggravated a sprained medial collateral ligament during the first series of the game. It was announced in the press box that Tomlinson "can return" to the game but the severity of the injury, suffered a week earlier against Indianapolis, wouldn't allow him to return.

WELL YEAH, IT WOULD PROVE HE WAS A CHUMP AND A QUITER AND A COWARD! HE COULD HAVE PLAYED, HE COULD HAVE BEEN ON THE SIDE LINE, HE COULD HAVE SUPPORTED HIS TEAMMATES! BUT NO!!!!!! LT HAD TO BE ALL SNUGGLED UP AND HDING HIS TEARS UNDER HIS HELMET! WHAT A ONE-WAY SOB!
He should have played New England and passed the Pro Bowl! wrote on Jan 30, 2008 7:34 PM:Where were you, LT! Fire Storm he created and has been creating. The fans are pissed!
Scottbbo1 wrote on Jan 30, 2008 8:34 PM:I hope the other comments are sarcasm and not what you tools really think about the best Charger ever.
Mikey B. wrote on Jan 30, 2008 8:42 PM:All you fine football fans that "turn your back" on L.T. are probably the sorriest of football fans ever! Short term memories and Monday morning quarterbacks is all we need. Not one ounce of football knowledge in any of the posts above. Have a nice spring you fair weathered fans. P.S. You will be the same "jacks" cheering his next 100 yard game!

Doug wrote on Jan 30, 2008 11:19 PM:You monday morning quarterbacks are making big fools of yourselves, you are acting like LT is the whole team. You say get rid of "the wuss" he's a quiter and yet you are so upset that he didn't play. You are really dissing the playing that Turner did in his place, which I feel he did quite well. The man was seriously injured, and still is. You don't go out and get banged up and cause permanent damage for a game that should have made other replacements as well. If you don't like the Chargers for a decision that was the best one made at the time, then get off the bandwagon, because we true fans don't want you anyway.
listen wrote on Jan 31, 2008 4:57 AM:LT could have played against NE, he is the star of the team. he chose not to play. every player is hurt, there are a lot of injurys that these guys never get over. career's do not last forever. rivers guts will carry him, in the biggest game of his career, rivers gutted it out LA daninan, chose to say that he wasnt 100 percent, who is? i do not believe that a 100 percent team, could have beaten the patriots, football players will play hard enough just to win, its not like track, when you run, your fastest, you just run hard enough to win, thats sports psychology for now, unfortunatly LT in the future will have to be traded, it wont work here for him, and thats a shame. he will regret it for the rest of his life. LT was quoted as saying that he has played hurt in meaningless games, before. well as one hall of fame coach has said "there are no meaningless games , if your in a game ,then its inportant" (bill parcells)
Listen up boneheads wrote on Jan 31, 2008 2:26 PM: NO YOU LISTEN, YOUR BONEHEADED STATEMENTS ARE REDICULOUS. AN ADDITIONAL MRI REVEALED FURTHER DAMAGE OCCURRED DURING THE 4 SNAPS HE PLAYED IN THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.HIS KNEE WILL REQUIRE AN ADDITIONAL 6 WEEKS TO HEAL. Also the Patriots could lose Asante Samuels to free agentcy & it is likely Rodney will retire after the Superbowl & probably Junior. The Charger`s run is about to begin so stuff a dirty sock in it

idiots wrote on Feb 1, 2008 12:45 AM:do any of you know what it is like to have a knee injury?!?!? rivers is a quarterback - straight drop back motion. LT is a cut back runner; it is nearly impossible to make lateral movements. you're telling me you would have wanted him to play... that really would have helped especially when we have a backup who would be starting most places. just idiots
Mike S wrote on Feb 1, 2008 7:48 AM:I can't believe I'm reading these comments about LT. You so called fans dissing LT go back to being Raider fans. LT did the right thing saying Turner and Sproles would be the better option than himself at the time. How can you for one second think he wasn't dying sitting on the sideline not playing. Go Chargers and Go LT

Um, excuse me but this IS FOOTBALL! Back in the DAY when Football was FOOTBALL, not like today where players are babies! Remember the STEEL CURTAIN? Those guys lost TEETH and played their GUTS OUT! Rivers played hurt! So what's LT's excuse? Um, it was cold outside and he was freezing so he SAT THERE like a BABY! So what he has a knee bruise! So! What stopped him from getting up off the bench at all??? Where was his TEAM SUPPORT? He sat there with his helmet on and coat zipped up and didn't move! ... ! If you can't handle the COLD and play REAL FOOTBALL LIKE BACK IN THE DAY...THEN GET OUT! LT should of SUCKED IT UP and PLAYED!!! The only reason he's backed out of the Pro Bowl so he don't look so bad! But he does! What a big baby! Maybe he should retire since he can't hack it! And it was obvious that day! My CASE CLOSED!
SoreNothing wrote on Feb 1, 2008 11:40 AM:I'm sorry but they said that LT was 90% ready to play. 90%! So he played TWO plays and then sat on the bench keeping all warm! The announcers even went to go and check on why LT was out and they were even told that LT is 90% good to go and play but the coach decided to sit him out. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT AT ALL! No one said not ONE word that LT re-injured his knee. And if he did why wasn't he taken to the locker room? Isn't that what they usually do to injured players? Why didn't he get an x-ray or at least go into the locker room to be checked ect... The answer is, is that it was too cold for him and he GAVE up and upset us Charger Fans. That so sad of you LT!
J wrote on Feb 1, 2008 2:08 PM:So you LT haters are saying you'd rather have him in injured than have a full-strength Michael "Burner" Turner and Sproles? Lol, yeah like you all are doctors. HA!
trevor in Vcenter wrote on Feb 1, 2008 3:57 PM:okay there is a doctor in the house, i usally specialize in women uppers, but he is some other medical news, an MRI will sometimes reveil nothing, and sometimes it is guess work, its easier to see damage in knee's than shoulders, certain people have different levels of pain threshold, ie; they can play thru an INJURY, ill bet 80 percent of all players have hidden , or known injuryies, that they MUST PLAY THRU. yes , i beleive that he is a great player, on a team that can become a winner, however, all i have to go on is that he was cold, and he QUIT, and yes, the medical statment that he was ready to play, was in fact, LT, PLAYIN ALL OF US,... HE IS responsible for this!if they carried hin off the field we would be talking about how HARD he tried.not how HARD he didnt.
Reply to Doug wrote on Feb 2, 2008 3:10 PM:You are exactly right. It's unfair to put the blame on LT when the whole team is so terrible.
LTisTheMan wrote on Feb 4, 2008 1:38 PM:All you armchair quartebacks should take a good look in the mirror ... and realize that you wouldn't last 5 min doing anything physical, let alone play in a football game. LT has TRUE heart and grit, and will play every game he possibly can. So sitting out of the NE game must have been painful. But all you ... can keep playing madden and keep talking crap on REAL players with REAL talent. ...
LT wrote on Feb 4, 2008 9:36 PM:is the classiest player in the nfl, just ask him, Im sure he will tell you that and more.
spewydog wrote on Feb 5, 2008 9:55 AM:Let the Raider fans spew. If anyone had to pick an All-Star team to open the '08 season, they would pick LT straight out, if they wanted to win. When you battle Belicheck, you need to show all weapons, to keep him coaching towards that threat. I blew my knee (MCL) out playing football and I couldn't even stand up after it went, so unless you been there don't snipe. LT is the franchise at this point, Rivers ain't it yet. One good thing about all this, is it will light a fire under LT for next year. Now it's time for Philip to match Eli. Rather then you Raider fans pretending to be Charger fans and spew about LT, why don't you look at what Randy Moss did to your team, LOL.
ISAAC wrote on Feb 10, 2008 7:10 PM:LT DID GOOD ON THE GAMES AND HE IS SILL #1 AND HE IS A GOOD PLAYER AND A GOOD GUY =] HOPE HE CAN PLAY WHEN FOOTBALL COMES =]
