CARLSBAD ---- A man carrying a demand note and a skateboard robbed a Carlsbad bank on Thursday evening, authorities said.

The robbery was reported at 5:34 p.m., after the suspect ---- described as a white man with a thin goatee ---- went into the Bank of America in the 7700 block of El Camino Real and gave a teller the note and a bag, Carlsbad police Sgt. Keith Blackburn said.

The note advised the teller that the suspect had a gun, though no gun was seen, Blackburn said.

The teller complied with the suspect's orders to put money in the bag; he then took off north through the parking lot, the sergeant said.

Police, assisted by a sheriff's helicopter, searched the area but did not find the suspect, Blackburn said.

The suspect, who carried a long skateboard, was described as being about 25 years old and 180 pounds with dark hair. He wore dark jeans, white tennis shoes and a black hooded sweatshirt with a large red logo on the front and a design on the right side of the hood.

What? wrote on Feb 8, 2008 2:01 PM:Get a life, your post is a perfect example of prejudice. Any group will have it's share of crooks. That doesn't mean that everyone in that group is a crook, or even that most in that group are crooks.

Yeah, get a life wrote on Feb 8, 2008 2:28 PM:I also heard that the robber was white, is that another example of the criminal element that identify themselves with the white race

Hood wrote on Feb 8, 2008 3:23 PM:He was wearing a hoodie and using it to hide his identity. That does mean all people wearing a hoodie have something to hide? In the summertime: Yes.

Hey Hood wrote on Feb 8, 2008 7:33 PM:Let me know when it's summertime ... then I'll worry about hoodies.

paul wrote on Feb 8, 2008 9:29 PM:Your kidding! A guy on a skateboard can outrun and hide from the police? A heck of an escape plan.

james wrote on Feb 8, 2008 11:56 PM:I wish the NTC would stop censoring comments. Your paper should be ashamed.

Gnarly Dude wrote on Feb 9, 2008 8:08 AM:This guy probably used the skateboard as a "diversion" and just threw it away when he left the bank. All the cops were driving around looking for a dude on a skateboard.

to paul wrote on Feb 9, 2008 9:12 AM:I think the guy had a bit of a head start on the police since they only call once the robber leaves. Figure it out dude!!!

Carlsbad wrote on Feb 11, 2008 9:21 AM:Arm the tellers. When someone passes a note saying they have a gun then the teller can pull their own and say "So do I, now get on the ground". Why does everybody not see this?

What's the score card? wrote on Feb 12, 2008 1:12 PM:I wanna know. How many robberies in Carlsgood? How many caught on camera? How many criminals were CAUGHT? How much money do citizens have to pay back? How many robbers wore hoodies? How many had guns (that were seen!)? What's the score here?
