Students live life of deaf

WILDOMAR ---- Things were quiet on a local high school campus last week as a group of American Sign Language students observed "Deaf Day" at Cornerstone Christian School.

The high school students spent the entire day in silence. They were only allowed to communicate using sign language, by writing things down or acting them out.

The idea was to teach students in American Sign Language classes not only sign language, but deaf culture, according to Ashley Mills, who teaches ASL classes at Cornerstone.

The ASL students wore name tags to identify themselves. They were not allowed to speak at any time throughout the day.
