Oceanside police arrest suspect in Rookies robbery

OCEANSIDE ---- Police on Tuesday arrested a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery a couple weeks ago at Rookies sports bar, 2216 South El Camino Real, said Sgt. Kelan Poorman.
Poorman said an officer on Tuesday morning spotted a man who fit the description of the suspect, Timothy Cortez, 20. He pulled the driver over in the 4700 block of Calle Solimar at about 11:50 a.m., he said.
The officer confirmed it was Cortez, Poorman said, and arrested him. He was booked into Vista Jail at 1:13 p.m. Tuesday and remains in custody on $60,000 bail.
Cortez faces felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon and robbery, according to court records. His initial appearance is scheduled for Thursday at 8 a.m.
