Hazardous waste collection scheduled

FALLBROOK -- The County of San Diego has scheduled a household hazardous waste, electronic and universal waste collection event for unincorporated area residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 23 at Fallbrook High School, 2400 S. Stage Coach Lane.
Household hazardous waste includes aerosols, antifreeze, auto batteries, auto fluids disinfectants, gasoline with container, lighter fluid, used oil/oil filters, latex/oil-based paint, pesticides, pool chemicals and solvents.
Electronics and universal waste includes computer and television monitors, cellular and cordless phones, central processing units, printers and scanners, stereo equipment, VCRs and DVD players, fax machines, miscellaneous computer components, fluorescent light bulbs and common batteries.
Leave products in the original container, if possible. Make sure lids are on tight so containers will not leak. Transport containers in the trunk or back of the vehicle away from people or pets. Do not transport more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds at one time. Containers used for transport must be no larger than a five-gallon bucket.
Items that will not be accepted include business waste, tires, ammunition, explosive and radioactive material, medical waste, air conditioners or large appliances. Information: (800) 713-2784.
